Mukkombu is a popular picnic spot of Trichy, and was built in the 19th century by Sir Arthur Cotton who drew inspiration from the 2nd century Kallanai dam by the Cholas, situated in its outskirts at a distance of 18 km from the city. Mukkombu offers many tourist attractions at one place, which include an amusement park, children’s park, fishing, sports, etc. All these features make it a popular weekend gateway for tourists. Its one of the main attraction is its upper dam constructed across the Rivers of Cauvery and Kolladam
